You are not a machine
SRS programs are like the Terminator from the 80s. Mean, bulked up and inexhaustible. It never stops, never wavers. If you miss a review, it throws you twice as many questions as before. Miss a week and it pounds you even more. Pretty soon you start avoiding the SRS. You pretend not to see the shiny icon in the corner of your desktop. You pretend not to remember that the SRS has 200+ words for you to “review”. Your guilt builds. You get demotivated. You stop studying. SRS has terminated your motivation. It’s happened to most of us. But I’m here to tell you: It’s not your fault. You’re just a human, not a machine that can do scheduled tasks day in, day out, rain or shine.
You are not alone
From reading blogs, it’s easy to assume that everyone is using an SRS program with great efficacy. But I know there are more people out there like me who suddenly found their reviews weren’t helping, or people who skipped a few weeks of study and found it too intimidating to open up their SRS program. I bet there are even people out there who don’t like current SRS programs. It’s time to start making your voices heard. Don’t be afraid to say: I don’t like SRS; it doesn’t make my life simpler.
Is your SRS program giving you motivation or killing your motivation?
