Lingomi is officially open! (We provide personalized listening and pronunciation practice tools for Mandarin Chinese.) I’m really excited to finally be able to say that. It’s been months of hard work, and I have been anxiously waiting to announce the opening for a while. And though not everything is perfect, I truly believe that Lingomi already offers something that no other site currently can. Lingomi allows you to personalize your listening and pronunciation practice so you can focus on your needs, not a textbook’s. Currently our focus is on Mandarin Chinese (we’re working on Japanese next) and have three applications: Lists, To Go, and Tingxie.
Lists is a simple way to keep track of your vocabulary: just add words to a list you’ve created and you’re set (Lingomi looks up words you enter in our dictionary, but if you’d like, you can add your own pronunciation or definition). Need to export your list? No problem. Lingomi will let you export your list to multiple formats. If you’ve purchased access to To Go, you can even turn your list into an MP3. How cool is that? Still need more convincing? Lists is free. Try it out here.
To Go is a new way to practice listening and pronunciation. You choose a list you’ve created or upload an excel file and Lingomi turns it into an MP3 file for you. Download the file to an MP3 player and you’ve got audio practice to go. It’s that easy. Use it to practice listening, practice pronunciation, memorize vocabulary, etc. I love it. I hope you will, too. Check out our free trial.
Tingxie is a simple listening test for Mandarin Chinese. Lingomi plays a sound and you type the pinyin. I haven’t seen a simpler way to practice listening. Tingxie is currently in closed beta and is coming soon.
Lingomi is not perfect, but I think it’s pretty darn good. I’ll be working hard to fix any bugs that come up and make sure our users can get the most out of the service. So head over to Lingomi.com and try it out. Thanks.

p.s. Sorry about the lack of posts in June. I’ve been working hard on getting Lingomi finished.
